Top tips on how to make after school ballet & dance classes successful!

it’s 3.30pm and …

You walk in the door, kick of your shoes, make a cup of tea and a biscuit and flop on the lounge. The sun is shining on your face and you feel a huge sigh of relief. You could almost have a ‘Doctor Nap’.

But…..

You have to rally the troops again who have dispersed into their rooms, unpacking the lego and art and craft boxes or upending the dress up box.
There is no chance they are going to want to stop playing and ‘get ready’ to go again.

windows of time

In each day there are sneaky little 20 minute periods that slip away like the proverbial sands through the hour glass. The secret is snatching them back!

The key to successfully transitioning in the afternoon from big school to ballet class is – DON’ T GO HOME!

This takes preparation however is seamless when executed well.

snacks

If you pack a protein filled snack eg. a cheese sandwich, yoghurt and fruit, crackers and cheese for your child to eat immediately when they are in the car, their energy levels and mood will lift significantly!

homework

You can drive to dance class, sit in the car or a park nearby and do their reader/spelling words. This means when you get home there is no homework left to do!

dressing

Get them dressed at the venue and then there are no arguments, only excitement about what comes next for both of you.

time for you!

For your child it is a 1 hour and 20 minute class of ballet and jazz filled fun with superb technique. For you it is the perfect opportunity to shop, walk, have a coffee, make dinner, have a nap in the car or check insta or facebook! If you have other children this is wonderful bonding time one on one.
