Our dance school’s Kindy & Year 1 ballet and jazz classes are based on the Royal Academy of Dance’s International Curriculum. Our Kindy and Year 1 classes are specially aimed at school level. Our ongoing teacher training and quarterly updates to our kids ballet and dance class programme ensure a high standard of technique that we are justifiably proud of.
This formal ballet & dance programme enables our teachers to create strong and confident little dancers; teaching flexibility, technique and dance class etiquette. With age appropriate music and dance steps, this class challenges students technically whilst learning the joy of ballet, jazz and dance.
We offer two classes targeted to this age group:
- Kindy & Year 1 Ballet (45 minute ballet class)
- Kindy & Year 1 Ballet plus Jazz (60 minute ballet and jazz class)
Teaching the Royal Academy of Dance International Syllabus, you will see a marked improvement in your child’s technique and abilities each term. For children who were with us in our preschool programme, you’ll see them begin to master the skills they’ve already acquired. We focus on the Royal Academy of Dance International Syllabus that big dance schools teach, but without the pressure of ballet exams or big stage productions, extra rehearsals or stage production fees. The ballet portion focuses on formal ballet training using imagery to engage your child and capture their attention and introduces your child to safe stretching practices.
The jazz portion of our Kindy & Year 1 Ballet plus Jazz class will allow your child to have a formal introduction to jazz. Your child will learn fun jazz moves through popular, upbeat age-appropriate music and choreography.
There’s still no uniform. Just wear a leotard and a skirt (any brand and any colour) and a ballet bun to class. If you’re doing our ballet plus jazz class, you will only require ballet shoes for the entire class. There’s no need to fork out for an extra pair of jazz shoes.
There will be a ‘big girl/boy’ ballet concert and performance opportunities at stages and fetes!

what will our ballet and dance school provide?
Your child will learn classical ballet technique based on the Royal Academy of Dance International Syllabus.
Each ballet & dance class begins with a warm up and centre work, where your child will be introduced to ballet steps, positions and terminology and safe stretching practices.
You will find a marked improvement in your child’s technique and abilities and actually see them begin to really master the skills they acquired in our preschool programme.
Through skipping, galloping, jumping and hopping, the kids are strengthening their legs and feet for pointing and much later on pointe work. Using imagery and inspiring music, your kid is taught to move expressively. If you enrol in our ballet plus jazz class, your child will learn fun jazz moves through popular, upbeat age appropriate music and choreography.
We will wow you, your friends and family with our free to watch, no fuss, no make up, gorgeous end of year in-class concert where your kid will wear a beautiful age appropriate costume!
