What do you learn at ballet?

My name is Miss Lotus. I am part of the amazing teaching faculty at Tiny Toes Ballet and have also had the opportunity to spend some time in the Tiny Toes Ballet office, which has been both wonderful and inspiring.

You see, it’s really quite a beautiful cycle … our incredible office staff find your little ballerina the perfect Tiny Toes Ballet class. Then, our wonderful teachers teach your children dance in the most precious way possible. Most importantly, you support your child by giving them the opportunity to dream, explore and express their creativity.

I have also been lucky enough to visit some of the Tiny Toes Ballet classes that I do not teach. It was so lovely to meet so many new parents and to see many familiar faces.

This video is comprised of some footage I got when visiting these classes. It was inspired by some beautiful words Miss Teresa once said – “I always learn something from the little ones each time I teach them”.

Ballet movements such as ‘first position’, ‘retire’, ‘arabesque’ and ‘plies’ are essential in delivering a ballet lesson that builds a strong foundation for ballet. However, I think what differentiates the class format at Tiny Toes Ballet is that we don’t simply look upon class time as an opportunity for your little one to ‘dance’. Class time is also spent sparking your child’s creativity by asking them to come on a journey to an imaginary place. Their minds are stimulated by being asked to complete tasks such as counting, understanding instructions and coordinating body parts to perform various tasks.

The profound effect that each and every child has had on me during my time with Tiny Toes Ballet is quite literally out of this world. I find it fascinating how such small humans can hold so much goodness inside them.
